No stone was left unturned when designing and building our
chapel. Input was received from historians and professors. The chapel
has a thatched roof, a bell tower and faces due north with its
beautiful round focal window guiding the northern rays into the chapel
in spectacular fashion. Ideal for intimate weddings of up to 140 guests.
Your reception options are numerous, all within a few seconds walk of the chapel and include:
(i) Our boma overlooking the Elephant dam is a very different option for small
groups of up to 40. The circular boma with roaring fireplace in the middle is
set on pure river sand under a giant thatch roof structure yet affords
astonishing night sky views as well as an expansive view over the Game Reserve
(ii) Our main Gala Hall adjacent to the history museum sports a small stage,
a massive roaring fireplace and an expansive area capable of wedding parties of
up to 180. The Gala Hall rear barn doors open onto an open air amphitheatre
capable of seating 200.
(iii) A Marquee on the expansive lawns surrounding the lodge and overlooking the
Hippo dam and Reserve itself will allow a more traditional setting but capable
of holding a wedding party in excess of 200
Our wedding clientele are those who are looking for an
intimate occasion, set in the heart of African nature, with a unique
historical theme but accessible for guests. By allowing the bride and
her entourage complimentary access to a suite before the wedding,
logistics are completely simplified as the getting ready, walk (or
horse-cart ride) to the chapel, wedding, reception and stay overnight
(if required) are all on one site. Our wedding coordinator will assist
with all aspects of the planning including suggesting photographers,
flowers, hair stylists, make-up, music etc.
