Frequently asked questions:

1. You seem too close to town to be a proper game reserve?

The reserve is some 3,000 hectares (or 7,500 acres) of pristine natural flora, fauna and game. The game has been steadily introduced over a number of years and currently represents a completely stand-alone natural environment including reptiles, bird-life, predators and grazers. There are over 1,000 head of game including Lions, Elephants (available for an elephant experience), White Rhino, Leopard, Hippo, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra and most buck (even Namibian Gemsbok). The game roams freely and guests must book a game drive with one of our rangers to go out onto the reserve.

2. What are the extra hidden costs of a stayover?

You will be quoted a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast rate per person sharing.  Single stays are priced separately.  A game drive can be arranged but will be at extra cost (see Rates page).  Beverages, lunch (in the a la carte restaurant), sessions with health and beauty therapists, laundry and other items of a personal nature represent additional cost.

3. What do I get for my D,B&B price?

Accommodation in a private chalet along with use of certain Lodge facilities including the history museum, plunge pool, TV rooms and the main lodge lounges (with artifacts and books) and a full continental and English breakfast the following morning and srumptious 4 course dinner on night of stay.

5. Are children welcome?
We allow children at the Lodge but we kindly ask that parents try to keep children noise levels down - the pure tranquility of the location is one of the major attractions.
6. I hear you have historic artifacts - what exactly?
Thousand year old bushman carvings, stone-age tools and general artifacts in the history museum, one of the largest private collections of ox wagons and carts in SA, plus all furnishings of the Lodge and the chalets are antique. A historian or someone who appreciates such will very much enjoy themselves.
